Stasis Theory
Fact
What are the facts?
Golden rectangles look really nice, and interior design is constantly happening, whether you actively design a room or just put stuff in it.
How did it begin?
Interior design started pretty much once there was an "outside" and and "inside." ϕ doesn't have a solid beginning, but rather shows up in a lot of artwork going really far back, with the Great Pyramid in Giza possibly being the first. The first person to write about it mathematically was Euclid.
Is there a problem/issue?
It's not so much a problem or issue, more of an investigation of how ϕ can be used in interior design.
What changed to create the problem?
I started this SYP?
Can it be changed?
I think that interior design can always be improved, and one of the ways to improve interior design is to have another way to think about it.
Definition
What is the nature of the problem?
Interior design is really subjective. This is trying to maybe make interior design ever so slightly less subjective.
What exactly is the problem?
Interior design's use of ϕ.
What kind of a problem is it?
It's looking to see how we can improve interior design.
To what larger class of things or events does it belong?
Interior design and ϕ both fit into a number of different categories, but my research is mainly aimed at the visual appeal aspects of both interior design and ϕ, while keeping in mind the practical aspects of interior design.
What are it's parts, and how are they related?
It's parts are a collection of different ways thatϕ can be used it interior design. I'm not sure what that collection is going to include yet, but probably in it are the affects of accent walls, hanging pictures/posters, arranging furniture to create golden rectangles, and others.
Quality
Is it a good thing or a bad thing?
Interior design is a good thing. (Assuming it's done right.)
How serious is the problem?
Not serious as in pressing, but I'm serious about it.
Whom might it affect?
Anyone who lives inside.
What happens if we don't do anything?
Your rooms don't feel quite as nice.
What are the costs of solving the problem/issue?
Monetarily, it depends on how much you're willing to spend. Socially, it shouldn't cost anything, unless your friends judge you for designing a room using ϕ, in which case their opinion doesn't really matter.
Policy
Should action be taken?
If you want to. It almost definitely won't make a big enough difference for you to need to jump up and redesign your house right this second.
Who should be involved in helping to solve this problem?
The person/people who are going to be living in the rooms that are being redesigned. You could also involve an interior designer, but that shouldn't be necessary.
What should be done about this problem?
Not that much needs to be done, as it's not a big problem or really a problem at all. What can be done is redesigning your room(s) with ϕ in mind.
What needs to happen to solve this problem?
People need to redesign their room(s).
