Abstract
Φ, approximately equal to 1.618, could offer a way to quantify interior designs through the use of the rectangles formed with “golden proportions,” that is, with a width to length ratio of 1:Φ or Φ:1. Although the ratio 1:Φ forms visually appealing rectangles that are successfully used in two-dimensional painting, Φ fails to be largely useful in interior design. Φ, although being a relatively unknown number, appears in many two-dimensional art pieces. This does not hold true for interior design because designs with Φ are usually not practical.
